würde auch sagen das der deutsche rap vielseitiger geworden ist.dazu kommt er ist nicht mehr neu und frisch. bands wie fanta vier mit ihrem damals noch vorhandenen wortwitz waren grossartig.was die gangsterrapper angeht ,das ist j nicht alles fake das stellt durchaus deutschen alltag dar ob das allerdings gut gemacht ist .......hm well

Das neue Album von K.I.Z. ist einfach Hammer, vielleicht könnt ihr nen Post darüber verfassen, denn eure Seite hatte bis jetzt immer die besten Brenner, aber ist leider nicht mehr ganz up to date - Schade eigentlich :/

What's up? I just wanted to say thanks for posting this article. I'm late to find your blog and I couldn't make complete sense of it because of the language barrier. I used Google Translate and I was able to understand a few points you made. I apologize in advance if my response is unintelligible. I agree with you that old school rap can't be looked at in terms of being "better" than modern hip-hop. The problem is is that this is an arbitrary distinction and that we can't use our personal tastes to determine the significance of any music. As it relates to the discussion, my main problem with Afronerd is that his perspective on hip-hop is informed by, at best, a conservative and, at worst, a racist view of black culture. For him, black culture has no value if it isn't aspiring to success on white supremacy's terms. He believes in an outdated Duboisian talented tenth theory, that the black elite will lead the black working class to success. We wholeheartedly oppose Afronerd as we view popular culture and black culture (which are synonymous here in the U.S.) as revolutionary, contradictory, and dynamic and that comes from below, from ordinary people. As such, we also see a subjectivity to the working class; that it defines itself and its aesthetic forms on its own unadulterated terms. For Jay Smooth, he has a sharp and witty perspective on hip-hop that is more accepting of the different forms it takes, but he has some social-democratic pitfalls in his politics which are reflected into his perspectives on the music, particularly with his emphasis on Barack Obama. Part of this is valid because a lot of the hip-hop generation has been galvanized to a degree by the Obama campaign. But what is inherent in hip-hop, and Jay wouldn't see this, again because of his social-democratic politics, is that hip-hop is a fundamental rejection of the status quo and official politics. We at "Democracy and Hip-Hop" are like Afronerd and Jay in the sense that our politics inform our perspective on hip-hop. The difference is that we do not start from politics, we start from hip-hop itself. Hip-hop can only be understood as thing-into-itself. We like to borrow from your philosopher Hegel in this sense. Hip-hop moves by its own contradictions; that it isn't just purely a representation of people. We do emphasize the representation aspect. Hip-hop is in many ways indicative of our own struggles, values, ideas, and attitudes, but it also moves on its own initiative. What we take from our political perspective is that part of hip-hop's contradictions is an inclination towards direct democracy, towards self-government; that these are tensions imbued with others that are barbaristic, materialistic, and sadistic. But we don't mechanically separate these tendencies and relegate them to particular genres or particular artists. They are ALL a part of hip-hop's totality. There is a lot more that could be said, but I'll stop here. I hope this makes sense and that it translates at least somewhat coherently. I really appreciate the attention you've given this subject.
